Eyelid Surgery

Blepharoplasty can reduce eyelid heaviness, improve under-eye puffiness, and smooth the appearance of tired or aged eyes. Upper eyelid surgery may also improve peripheral vision in patients with significant skin redundancy. Results are typically subtle and natural-looking, helping patients appear more rested rather than “overdone.”

Ideal candidates for blepharoplasty are individuals who notice drooping upper eyelids, under-eye bags, or excess eyelid skin that creates a tired appearance. Candidates should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations. Eyelid surgery may be performed alone or in combination with other facial procedures for comprehensive rejuvenation.

Blepharoplasty addresses the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. Upper eyelid surgery focuses on excess skin and tissue above the eyes, while lower eyelid surgery addresses under-eye bags, puffiness, and laxity.

Upper Blepharoplasty:

• Involves removal of excess skin and, when appropriate, fat through an incision hidden within the natural upper eyelid crease. This helps create a more open, refreshed appearance.
  
  

Lower Blepharoplasty:

• Addresses under-eye bags and laxity and may be performed through an incision just below the lash line or inside the lower eyelid (transconjunctival approach). The goal is to smooth the under-eye area while preserving a natural contour.
  
  

Incisions are carefully placed to be discreet. The procedure is typically performed under anesthesia, and recovery is gradual as swelling and bruising resolve.
